Epoxy Resin KER 3001 – Kumho (Korea)

Resin is a natural or synthetic compound widely used in various industries, interior architecture and the visual arts. Synthetic resins are very versatile. Among all synthetic resins we can point out to epoxy resin, polyester resin, vinyl resin, phenolic resin, etc.

Epoxy resins are a class of industrial resins that have a wide range of applications in a variety of industries, including the production of resistant coatings in the paint industry. Epoxy resin is a two-component thermosetting resin, the most common of which is produced by the reaction of bisphenol A and epichlorohydrin. Epoxy requires a hardener to create a solid, flat film on the surface. crosslinking in the polymer chains causes the rigid structure.

Description

Applications of epoxy resin:

Epoxy products have many applications in various fields due to their chemical properties, Including:

Paint and coating:

Epoxy paints, which are mainly used in industrial and marine applications, have high mechanical strength and durability, very good adhesion to the surface (due to the presence of hydroxyl groups), resistance to chemicals and corrosive environments are important other features of these paints. Epoxy based paints have a wide range of industrial and marine coatings. Various anti-corrosion pigments, including barrier and Sacrificial pigments, show high efficiency in epoxy resin mixing in corrosive environments.
The main disadvantage of these paints is the lack resistance to sunlight and ultraviolet.
For this reason, these coatings are mainly used in open environments as a primer layer in addition to other final layers that are resistant to sunlight. Also, the epoxy-based barrier-type paints in submerged environments including sections below the liners and vessels, show good application along with anti-moss coatings.

Floor coating:

Mechanical, abrasion and impact resistance, chemical resistance, waterproof, solid and seamless hygienic and antibacterial, quick and easy repair ability and washability with a variety of detergents are among prominent properties of epoxy protective flooring. Epoxy flooring is applicable in smooth, semi-smooth, semi-rough and rough forms, and they can be offered in a wide variety of designs and colors and in a variety of anti-acid and chemical-resistant, fire-proof, anti-static, electrical insulation, decorative and general.Epoxy flooring is the best choice for covering the floor surfaces of industrial factories, automotive industries, chemical industries, food industries, oil, gas and petrochemical industries, water and wastewater and power plant Industries, pharmaceutical industries, packaging industries, aviation industries,  refrigerating room, slaughterhouses, control rooms, clean rooms, hospitals, operating rooms, electric power industry, telecommunications, electronics and computers, broadcasting studios and… .

Electronics industry:

Epoxies are a great insulator for electricity. Hence they are used in producing printed board circuit, for circuit surface insulation, the production of integrated circuits, hybrid integrated circuits, and transistors.
Another advantage of using epoxy in electronics is its better thermal conductivity compared to air. Electronic devices are always at risk from heat generation.

molding:

Epoxy molding resins with outstanding mechanical properties are used to produce master mould and easy and fast copying of the most complex industrial and non-industrial parts.

Adhesives:

Epoxy industrial adhesives have high chemical and mechanical strength, optimum thermal resistance and excellent adhesion strength and are capable of bonding unsimilar parts, such as Connecting metal parts to rubber or plastic parts, connecting of stone and concrete to wooden and metal parts. For this reason, they are a safe alternative to conventional bonding methods such as welding and riveting. Repairing complex and costly industrial parts such as engine shells, gearboxes, cylinders, molds and master molds are important applications of this product.

Epoxy resin hardeners:

Hardeners or curing agents are combined with resins in different proportions and play an important role in hard cover film formation.
They cover a wide range of chemicals including: Polyamines, Polyamides, Anhydride, Cycloaliphatic Amines, Aromatic Amines and …
