ROCIMA 623 (Preservative Agent)

GENERAL DESCRIPTION:
ROCIMA 623 is a liquid combination of active substances to preserve aqueous products such as
dispersion paints, emulsion paints, glues, cutting oils, thickening pastes and binder dispersions. ROCIMA 623 is active both in the aqueous phase as well as in the vapour phase above it.
ROCIMA 623 allows a cost-effective control of bacteria and fungi in closed systems.

LD50 4’781 mg/kg (calc.)

APPLICATION AND ACTIVITY:
ROCIMA 623 was especially developed as an in-can preservative for use in dispersed or emulsified aqueous systems. It can be added at any phase of production. It is, however, recommended to add the necessary amount of ROCIMA 623 at the very beginning of the manufacturing process, where the conditions during production allow this.
ROCIMA 623 contains a combination of active substances, which provide a long term protection in the aqueous phase and an additional protection in the vapour phase.
ROCIMA 623 is effective against bacteria (gram-positive and gram-negative) under aerobic or anaerobic conditions. It is also effective against yeasts and moulds commonly encountered in the described fields of application. The number of technical products in need of preservation is steadily increasing. Since it is impossible for a biocide supplier to check compatibility with all materials used in individual formulations, preliminary tests to check compatibility of ROCIMA 623 with the specific product are always necessary.

DOSAGE:
The necessary dosage rate of ROCIMA 623 depends upon the degree of contamination of the raw materials and upon the susceptibility of the product to be preserved.
Degree of contamination and susceptibility can fluctuate seasonally. A periodical determination of germ counts helps considerably in choosing the optimum dosage rate.
Therefore, the concentration ranges listed below should be used for guidelines only:
Binders : 0.05 – 0.15%
Dispersion paints, glues solutions : 0.1 – 0.5%

HANDLING:
Please refer to the safety data sheet of this product for precise handling instructions.
The processing and use of industrial chemicals require adequate technical and professional knowledge.
In general, avoid eye and skin contact, wear safety goggles, gloves and protective clothing. In case of eye or skin contact despite precautionary measures, wash immediately and thoroughly with plenty of warm water and obtain medical attention.
The legal requirements prevailing in your country, especially on working hygiene and in the avoidance of accidents, must be observed.
STORAGE:
ROCIMA 623 should be stored in closed original containers as cool as possible but not below 0°C.
ROCIMA 623 solidifies below 0°C.
After warming up to room temperature the product becomes liquid again and after stirring, it can be used without any loss in effectiveness.
